Founder / Promoter

DK Sugiyama

DK Sugiyama, born in Tokyo in 1979 and raised in New York, started his first business at the age of 19. He graduated from Keio University’s Faculty of Policy Management and later earned an MBA from the same institution’s Graduate School of Business Administration. In 2014, he served as the President of Quantum Leap, Inc., a company founded by the late former Sony Chairman, Nobuyuki Idei.

Background of the Organization

The SLGBTQ+ CENTER was established to promote understanding and communication regarding SLGBTQ+ issues. In recent years, global awareness and understanding of LGBTQ+ matters have rapidly increased. However, in Japan, this understanding has not yet fully taken root, and many individuals still hesitate to speak out.To achieve true equality and social reform, dialogue and interaction with all people, including straight individuals, are essential. We envision a future where SLGBTQ+ becomes a standard part of society, and we aspire to build a more inclusive society where everyone can confidently express their preferences and say, 'I like what I like.'To this end, we have added an 'S' to the traditional LGBTQ+ acronym, proposing a 'new normal' that goes beyond diversity. By promoting understanding and supporting reform, we aim to create a more inclusive society for all.
